Subject

These terms of use establish the rights and obligations of registered users participating in this portal, as well as of Internet users in general who visit the portal. 

The portal is owned by the University of Minho, and its administration and content management is the responsibility of the entity mentioned under "Contacts" in the portal. 

Viewing the information contained on this website does not exempt the user from the responsibility to validate it with the entity responsible for administrating the portal.

Userid

The registered user has a login (identification word) and password that should remain confidential. The use of this information is of the sole responsibility of the user. 

Services

In addition to all the institutional information that is publicly available to internauts, private information will be made available for registered users.

Utilisation of services

The user is obliged to make use the services provided in agreement with the laws and regulations applicable to this type of service in Portugal. It is expressly forbidden to use the services of this portal for the practice of illegal acts, whether civil, criminal or otherwise, or the violation of any rights of others. Offenders can be criminally punished in accordance with the laws in force.

The information contained on this website is owned by the University of Minho and may not be published or distributed without written permission. Editing or modification of published materials is prohibited, as well as the extraction of text or images for other uses. 

The images, marks, logos, names and designations on this site are subject to copyright and industrial property rights and as such are protected by the Code of Copyright and Related Rights and the Code of Industrial Property, and cannot be reproduced or appropriated in any way without written permission of the respective copyright holders. 

User information

The Offices of the University of Minho are authorised to process user information to the extent permitted by Portuguese law applicable to personal databases. The University of Minho is committed to the adoption of appropriate technical and administrative measures for the protection of personal data and not to disclose information to third parties concerning its users' personal data or information of their access, unless required by law. 

Users consent to the creation of usage statistics and records of connection. These data can be used in administrative and statistical processes and can be made available to others provided users remain anonymous. The personal information of the users is not provided to entities external to the University of Minho. 

The registered user has the right to refute, access and rectify his/her data. 

Responsible for data processing

The entity responsible for processing user databases is the University of Minho. 

The data of registered users are organised in a database properly registered in the National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD). The University of Minho is thus obliged to comply with the relevant legislation in force in Portuguese law, applicable to personal databases. 

Cookies

In accessing the portals of the University of Minho, temporary cookies are introduced and encrypted on the computer where access is being done.

Information collected for statistical purposes

In accessing the portal’s pages, the following information is automatically gathered: IP address from which the user accesses the portal pages, access date and pages visited. This information does not identify the user personally. This information is gathered for statistical purposes of the portal, and no individual statistics were compiled.

Security and service availability
