 Mature students (23+)

Every year, the University provides an Access Course for Preparation and Assessment for the Application to The University of Minho by mature students over 23 years of age.

Modern information societies recognize lifelong training, knowledge and know-how beyond the conventional educational system which forces higher educational institutions to find new answers to meet these training needs. UMinho is aware of people who did not attain an upper secondary educational qualification or its equivalent, but developed cognitive skills and have an affinity to integrate their knowledge into more systematic training.

The Course is held throughout the academic year, and is divided into two semesters. The core subjects are: Portuguese Language I and II. The Specific Options are:  Economics topics I and II, Philosophy and Critical Thinking I and II, History I and II or Math topics I and II. At the end of the Course students are subject to the evaluation of their C.V. and interviewed according to the terms of the Regulation of the University of Minho concerning this access regime to Higher Education.

Once the course is successfully completed, students can apply, under the terms of the Regulation of this University, for bachelor or integrated masters courses.
