This Master of professional nature includes the following areas of specialization:
- Adult Education and Community Intervention
- Training, Work and Human Resources
- Mediation and Supervision of Professional Development

The cycle of studies leading to the Master's degree in Education, Area of Specialization in Adult Education and Community Intervention, is a professional cycle of studies organized according to the principles arising from the Bologna Declaration. This master's aims at: providing a theoretical and conceptual framework operationalized in terms of temporal principles, models and manifestations of adult education and community intervention; providing the knowledge of a set of methods, techniques and strategies applied in the field of adult education and community intervention; enabling an operational adaptation to the mediation and evaluation demands in the professional contexts of adult education and community intervention; streamlining processes of practical application of the knowledge acquired in concrete situations of adult education, animation and community intervention; and developing research skills in the field of adult education and community intervention. The completion of the first year grants students with a Specialization Certificate in Adult Education and Community Intervention. The successful completion of the master's grants the Master's degree in Education.

The cycle of studies leading to the Master's degree in Education, Area of Specialization in Training, Work and Human Resources is a professional cycle of studies organized according to the principles arising from the Bologna Declaration. This master's aims at: developing skills of critical analysis of education institutions, organizations, non-formal contexts, training departments and of human resource management, among others, with particular emphasis on the policies and practices of training, work and on the human resource management; providing conceptual and methodological alternative models that contribute to the assignment of other ways to the training, work and management experiences and to the construction of original and theoretically consolidated projects; developing leadership skills of programmes and projects, as well as of education and training departments and of human resource management, and also identification, recognition, validation and certification skills of non-formal and informal learning of lifelong training; and developing research skills in the field of training, work and human resource management. The completion of the first year grants students with a Specialization Certificate in Training, Work and Human Resources. The successful completion of the master's grants the Master's degree in Education.

The cycle of studies leading to the Master's degree in Education, Area of Specialization in Educational Mediation and Supervision in Training, is a professional cycle of studies organized according to the principles arising from the Bologna Declaration. This master's aims at: providing founded and problematizing knowledge of theories and practices of educational mediation and supervision in training in the diverse contexts of professional intervention; developing conceptual models and devices and methodologically appropriate for programmes and projects in the field of intervention and supervision in training, and mediation; developing research methodologies in education adjusted to the study on and to the intervention in processes of educational mediation and supervision in training; and enabling for the autonomous practice of educational mediation and supervision in training. The completion of the first year grants students with a Specialization Certificate in Educational Mediation and Supervision in Training. The successful completion of the master's grants the Master's degree in Education.

The completion of the first year confer the right a Specialization Diploma in Adult Education and Community Intervention. The approval on the entire Master confers the degree of Master of Education.
The 2nd year of the Master is dedicated to realization of an internship in a professional context and the preparation of the respective report. May be requested frequency of the Master in part-time, and in this case the amount of the tuition fees corresponds to partial amount of the same.

This Master degree provides basic training to carry out a course of 3rd cycle (PhD) in the same scientific area, or other areas

Individuals holding a Master of Education are able:
- to plan, implement and evaluate programs and projects of professional development;
- to supervise the development of professional development programs and projects:
- to plan, implement and evaluate programs and projects of mediation.

The Master in Education Specialisation in Adult Education and Community Intervention is able:
The ability to analyse and critically comprehend situations, contexts and initiatives in which adult education and animation and community intervention are of main importance for their development;
The ability to conceive creatively adult education, animation and community intervention projects aimed at promoting and developing adults and their local communities;
The ability to intervene and answer to emergent educational needs and problems in adult education, animation and community intervention supported by scientific knowledge methods and forms that are appropriate to situations, contexts and problems faced by adults;
The ability to involve agents, institutions and human resources as well as economic and financial resources in projects developed in partnership in the frame of lifelong education;
The ability to conceive, structure, manage and evaluate programmes and projects of adult education, animation and community intervention;
The ability to reflect critically on policies and general politic and practical orientations supported by the proposal of innovative forms of intervention, creative and applicable to concrete contexts of adult education, animation and community intervention;
The ability to research and to act and research in the filed of adult education, animation and community intervention.

Entry requirements


To apply for the Master of Education course candidates must have the following prerequisites:
- Hold a degree in Education, Science Education or related courses;
- A foreign academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies in Education, Science Education or a related field, organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State acceding to this process;
- The holders of a foreign degree that is recognized as meeting the objectives of a degree in Education, Science Education or a related field by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Education;
- Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized as attesting the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies by the Scientific Council of the Institute of Education.
