Description


The target students of this Master is not only the group of students graduating each year in Chinese language at the University of Minho, but also students from Chinese universities graduating in Portuguese language, in addition to as many as in position to do so, candidate to it.

It is clearly a Master Degree Course for Chinese students that study Portuguese and for Portuguese students that study Chinese.

The objectives of this degree focus on the preparation of masters for the demanding job market that, in one way or another; have interests or relations with the areas of Chinese and Portuguese cultures.
It is intended to equip the graduate student with language skills, communication ability and cultural sensitivity that allows the effective contact, directed to the economic and cultural, or others, of those markets, establishing a bridge between the two societies.
The classes are taught both in Portuguese and Chinese, working in his 2nd year with bilingual groups.

Access to higher education


This Master degree provides basic training to carry out a course of 3rd cycle (PhD) in the same scientific area, or other areas

Careers


Following the Degrees in Oriental Studies and Oriental Languages and Culture and as a complement of 2nd cycle, this degree specifically intended to specialize the orientation of the students in the acquisition of skills, not only in the field of Chinese language and culture and Portuguese language and culture but also directing the attention and efforts of masters in three main profiles, the three in the sphere of cross culturalism, namely:
a) a profile aimed in the direction of translation;
b) a profile directed towards training (Chinese to Portuguese and Portuguese to Chinese) ;
c) a profile directed towards cross cultural entrepreneurship communication .

Considering the immediately above mentioned, the desired profiles through this cycle of studies leading to a master's degree in masters aim to develop:
a) Capacity of understanding and action by the teaching of Chinese language to Portuguese students and Portuguese language to Chinese students;
b) Ability to meet and perform tasks at the level of translation from Chinese to Portuguese and Portuguese to Chinese, to a first level of technical and commercial texts, and perhaps, to a future deepened level of literary text;
c) Ability to deal with situations of business exchanges in an intercultural context ,
d) Ability to deal with situations of business exchanges in an cross cultural context, with what this means in terms of understanding the historical behavioral sensitivities, idiosyncratic of the two presented cultures.

Recommended requirements


In terms of Chinese studies: Students should be in possession of the examination of Chinese HSK IV.
In terms of Portuguese Studies: Students should be holders of Portuguese proficiency exam B1.
