Description


The techno-scientific field of Human Engineering, or human factors engineering, is now recognized as an important element of a modern and efficient industrial management. It is no longer possible to devise an effective management of any type of industrial system or service without the application of the techniques and methodologies integrated in the various disciplines that constitute the body of knowledge known as Human Engineering.
The intention of this course (1) is to provide training at a postgraduate level in the field of Human Engineering (considering subjects as Ergonomics, Occupational Safety and Hygiene) in order to provide companies with qualified practitioners. The main idea is to comply with legal obligations and, simultaneously, contributing for the sustained development of companies, based on the improvement of the working conditions.

(1) Certified by the Portuguese Authority for Working Conditions (ACT) for Senior Technician of Safety at Work - (Level VI), under the Law nº 42/2012, from 28th August.

Access to higher education


This Master's course provides basic training to carry out a course of 3rd cycle (PhD) in the same scientific area, or other areas.

Candidates are admitted with a Degree in Engineering, Ergonomics, Psychology, Medicine, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or holding degrees in related fields. Candidates from other fields or backgrounds are also admitted provided they are able to show a relevant CV within the domain of the course.
