Description
The Industrial Engineering and Management (EGI) aims at rationalizing the use of resources (machines, transportation systems, tools, computer resources, people, space, financial resources, etc.) in industrial and service companies with the aim of improving its overall performance. The objective of the MEGI course is to train specialists with technical and scientific knowledge to address key issues currently facing productive systems of the companies. It provides the acquisition of specific skills that allow the application of engineering methods and scientific management principles to the productive systems of goods and services, aiming to achieve the most effective integration and coordination of the company's processes, using different types of human, material, technical, economic and informational resources.
Key learning outcomes
The graduate is expected to demonstrate skills to address problems in a holistic approach:
1. to understand and apply the principles of Industrial Engineering and Management;
2. to creatively propose the formulation of hypotheses, the definition of methodologies and the critical analysis of the results obtained;
3. to autonomously search for, processing, analyzing and managing information;
4. to prepare to overcoming the challenges faced by the multi-disciplinary nature of problems in the area, enabling to make effective decisions for clients, employers and society.
5. to lead change in organizations;
6. to communicate effectively and
7. to perform teamwork, assuming leadership positions.
The EGI Master should be able to design, implement and optimize production systems, leading improvement and innovation projects. In addition, the graduate will have advanced skills in EGI, which will allow him to identify, understand, critically analyze, and solve production systems problems.
Access to higher education
Students who complete the Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management may apply to the Master in Industrial Engineering and Management or to another Master in Engineering.

A professional in this area performs Engineering and Industrial Management functions that cover the entire range of industrial companies (footwear, textiles, metalworking, automobiles, electronics, etc.) and services (banks, supermarkets, insurance companies, hospitals, etc.) from small and medium-sized enterprises to large enterprises.
