The University of Minho has been ranked in the elite of the best young universities in the world, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) 150 Under 50 2016.
Since 2012, the THE publicises a new group of top higher education institutions that have achieved, in a short period of time, a global level of excellence in the various aspects of their mission - teaching, research, innovation and internationalisation. The list only includes universities which have been in existence for less than 50 years, and uses the same 13 prestigious indicators for the Times Higher Education world ranking.
This edition of the THE used new assessment parameters and a new methodology, in a new partnership with Elsevier, leading to significant changes when compared to previous lists. UMinho saw its prominent place as an internationally recognised higher education institution confirmed. These results show the results of a strategy based on reality, quality and international assertion that UMinho has been following, supported by the commitment and involvement of its members.
