The Times Higher Education Young University Rankings 2017 features the University of Minho as one of the best young universities in the world. UMinho is featured, for the fifth consecutive year, among the world higher education elite in one of the most prestigious international rankings.

Since 2012, the Times Higher Education ranking publicises a new group of top higher education institutions that have achieved, in a short period of time, a global level of excellence in the various aspects of their mission - teaching, research, innovation and internationalisation. The list only includes universities which have been in existence for less than 50 years, and uses the same 13 indicators for the Times Higher Education world ranking, adapted to assess younger higher institutions.

In this edition of the Times Higher Education ranking, UMinho asserts again its place as a higher education institution that stands out with international prestige, among the best 150 higher education institutions in the world. These accomplishments show the university’s investment in a realistic growth strategy with quality and international statement, followed by UMinho thanks to the commitment of its members.

The ranking is led by the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland), followed by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Hong Kong), and the Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).
