UMinho coordinates a international mobility project from/to 27 countries and two Consortiums Erasmus+

Following the institutional application for Key-Action 1 of the Erasmus + Programme in 2017, the University of Minho has obtained funding for mobilities within the framework of the International Credit Mobility (ICM) from/to 27 partner countries outside Europe – Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Cambodia , Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Macau, Malaysia, Morocco, Mexico, Mongolia, Mozambique, Palestine, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Tunisia, Ukraine and Vietnam – for students and teaching and non-teaching staff.

Under the same Key-Action, two new consortiums coordinated by UMinho were approved and financed. The Joint Academic Mobility Scheme with the MIddle East and South (JAMIES) consortium, in association with the Universities of Algarve, Nova de Lisboa, Porto and Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, aims to respond to the urgent challenge of supporting the development and modernization of Higher Education Institutions in the Middle East and South countries, organizing mobility flows to/from Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Tunisia . The UNorte International consortium, specially oriented towards mobility in Europe for teaching and non-teaching staff, intends to insure a long-term framework of training to promote greater competitiveness of UMinho, UPorto and UTAD in privileged contexts of research and innovation.

These three projects will enable the implementation of around 400 mobilities with funding close to one million euros. Finally, within the scope of the usual institutional application towards the Programme Countries, UMinho has received more than half a million euros of funding for more than 400 mobilities for students and teaching and non-teaching staff.
