Braga’s St John’s Festivities take place in various parts of the city, in partnership with UMinho’s Cultural Council, UMinho’s Student Union and the Rádio Universitária do Minho (Minho University Radio - RUM). UMinho participates in the event – see highlights below.

HIGHLIGHTS

June 14 | 9.30 p.m. | Theatro Circo Main Hall 3rd Sanjoanina Gala Evening, featuring the Folklore Group of the University of Minho, the Academic Choir of the University of Minho, and the Braga Phillarmonic Orchestra, among others. Hosted by Pedro Andrade (RUM) and Sara Lima (Porto Canal). Ticket sales revert to the chartiy project “Need for Dance”.

June 16 | 5 p.m. | University of Minho Rectory – Salão Medieval Gallery “Os Zés Pereiras no Entre-Douro-e-Minho” art exhibition opening. Exhibition open until June 28

June 19 | 9.30 p.m. | Avenida Central and Theatro Circo Outdoor Stage
"A UM vai ao São João” - Academic evening with 13 UMinho cultural groups: Bomboémia, Academic Choir of UMinho, the Folklore Group of UMinho, UMinho’s Poetry Group, Tun’ao Minho, Tuna Universitária do Minho, iPUM, Tun’Obebes, Literatuna, Gatuna, OpumDei, Tuna de Medicina da UMinho and Augustuna.

June 20 | 9.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. | Rua do Castelo Cloisters +Saúde - rastreios visuais, respiratórios, cardiovasculares e de saúde mental, com os núcleos de alunos de Enfermagem, Medicina e Optometria da UMinho (até às 17h30) +Saúde – mental health, cardiovascular, respiratory and visual screenings performed by UMinho’s Nursing, Medicine and Optometry students.

June 23 | 6.30 p.m. | Praça Mestre Veiga (next to the Tourism Information Office) Festa do Folclore – learn how to dance Minho’s most symbolic regional dances with the Folklore Group of UMinho.

June 23 | Midnight | Theatro Circo – front plaza RUM Stage, with Tochapestana and RUM DJs
