The Quality Plan​ is a formal document that comprehensively describes the establishment of UMinho's quality patterns.​
The Quality Plan is an operational plan that develops the strategic programme of institutional development into specific plans of action. The description of the actions within each of the plans is accompanied by: information concerning the methodologies to be used; the identification of indicators that will provide a means of assessment for its completion; by milestones marking the thresholds of quality that the University self-imposes; the identification of those responsible for the coordination and the execution of the different actions.

This detailed description of the actions is relevant to assess, not only how solid the actions are, but also whether they are feasible.

The implementation and monitoring of the Quality Plan is supported by the University's IT system, encouraging the use of management documentation in a digital format.​
