Linda Gonçalves Veiga was born in 1970, and is Full Professor of Economics at the School of Economics and Management of the University of Minho, since 2017.

She graduated in Economics at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto in 1993, and concluded the Ph.D. in Economics at the University of South Carolina - USA in 1999. In 2006, she did the aggregation exams (Provas de Agregação) in Economics at the University of Minho.

Linda G. Veiga is a member of the department of Economics, since 1993, and an integrated member of the Economic Policies Research Unit (NIPE). In the academic year of 2005-06, she was visiting scholar at the Faculty of Economics and at the Clare Hall College of the University of Cambridge. She is adjunct associate professor of the United Nations University – Operational Unit in Electronic Governance, since 2015.

Among the directive tasks performed at the University of Minho, are the vice-Presidency of the School of Economics and Management (2002-04) and the directions of the Department of Economics (2007-10 e 2000-02), of the Economic Policies Research Unit (2004-05), of the Ph.D. in Economics (2012-16), of the Master of Research in Economics (2012-14), and of the Master in Economics (2010-12).

She is a member of the Board of the European Public Choice Society (2015-18) and live member of the Clare Hall College of the University of Cambridge, UK.

Linda G. Veiga teaches and researches in the areas of Political Economy and Public Finance. She published several articles in scientific journals, and co-authored three books and several book chapters. Profiles: ORCID  and Google Scholar.

She coordinated five research projects funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), and a project funded by the Foundation Francisco Manuel dos Santos. She also participated in three research projects funded by other external entities. She is national expert in several international projects.

In 2012, Linda G. Veiga received the EEG/UMinho's Prize for excellence in research. In 2017, she received the Outstanding Paper Award for the most innovative research contribution or case study at the conference IFIP EGOV/EPART.

She has consultancy experience, namely for the United Nations, the Directorate General of Local Governments, the Portuguese Court of Auditors, the Secretary of State of Culture, and the North Regional Coordination and Development Commission.​
