Description
The cycle of studies leading to the degree of Master for teaching English and Spanish in lower and upper secondary education, created after the implementation of the Bologna process, gives professional qualification in Teaching English and Spanish in lower and upper secondary education, pursuant to the Legal System of Professional Qualification for Teaching in the Preschool Education and Primary and Secondary Education (Decree-Law No. 43/2007, of February 22, Ordinance 1189/2010, of 17 November). This cycle of studies aims to train teachers of English and Spanish who are informed, critical and active practitioners. Candidates should be able to: reconstruct thinking and action within a lifelong learning perspective; structure, monitor and evaluate learning that is socially relevant and promotes people?s full inclusion in school and society; incorporate methodologies guided by the principles of reflexivity, self-direction, creativity and innovation, giving relevance to research, not only as a source of knowledge but rather as a way of knowing and intervening, and developing a conscious, deliberate and responsible action in the contexts of professional practice.
This Master qualifies for teaching (Initial Teacher preparation) and includes a teaching practicum in local schools. A final report will be presented and subjected to public assessment by a jury.
Access to higher education
This Master degree provides basic training to carry out a course of 3rd cycle (PhD) in the same scientific area, or other areas.
