Mission
[article 12 of the Organic Regulation of the Services Units of the University of Minho, published in the Official Gazette, Diário da República, 2nd series, no. 100/2020, of 7 May]
“1. The Legal Advisory Office is responsible for providing legal support to the Rectorate and the OUs, in particular:
a. Drawing up opinions and carrying out legal studies on matters submitted to it;
b. Cooperating in the preparation, revision and interpretation of legal instruments such as statutes, regulations, orders and circulars;
c. Implementing or providing legal support in disciplinary matters, enquiries and investigation procedures;
d. Verifying the legal conformity of the electoral processes in the University and in the organic units and sub-units, in relation to the respective statutes and electoral regulations.
2. Being involved and monitoring the administrative litigation processes in which the University is a party, through the lawyers appointed for this purpose, with the procedural powers conferred by the Code of Procedure of Administrative Courts;
3. Assessing proposals for protocols, agreements, covenants and other cooperation instruments to be signed between the University and external entities;
4. Guaranteeing the uniform application of the law and the systematisation of procedures in association with the lawyers who are active in other service units.”
