Some of the artists performing at the festival include Dead Combo, Mazgani and The Legendary Tigerman. The goal of this initiative is to show Braga and Guimarães’s cultural vibe, particularly to new students of the university.

The admittance-free opening concert takes place on Thursday at 9.30 p.m. with the UMinho Orchestra perfoming at the Rectorate’s Medieval Hall, in the city centre of Braga. In Guimarães on the same day, at 11 a.m., the Alberto Sampaio Museum hosts the shadow theatre play “E assim nasceu Guimarães”. At 4 p.m. in the Guimarães’s Praça da Oliveira, takes place the cultural gathering “ Tertúlia 2Share”. Around 6 p.m., the UMinho Theatre students present the play “Inserir Descrição”, at the old Guimarães’s Laboratório das Artes. After that, the band Kumpania Algazarra performs on the streets. There is also a projection of a documentary about the historical and cultural heritage of Guimarães. Back to Braga, the festival continues at 9.30 p.m., in the Nogueira da Silva Museum, where the audience will be taken on a trip through the sound of traditional Chinese instruments, coordinated by soloist Lu Yanan.

On Friday, also at 9.30 p.m., the Museum features a improv jazz concert. The Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library hosts the literary lecture “Outono Literário - Percursos da obra de…João Tordo”, whilst in the Paço dos Duques de Bragança in Guimarães, a musical performance by the UMinho Orchestra takes place. At 10 p.m., the UMinho Rectorate hosts the Iranian singer Mazgani’s concert, as well as a concert by the Portuguese band Dead Combo.

At 5 p.m. on Saturday, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Galicia plays a strings concert and later, at 9.30 p.m. the performance “Atribulações de um sonhador inveterado”, by Armindo Cerqueira takes place. After that, at 10 p.m., the artists Valter Lobo and The Legendary Tigerman take the Medieval Hall’s stage at the Rectorate. The tickets for the Largo do Paço concerts can be bought as of September 19th at the Student Support offices at the Gualtar (Braga) and Azurém (Guimarães) campi. Bringing together cultural heritage and contemporary creation

The Autumn Festival brings together aspects of the cultural and artistic heritage owned or kept by UMinho, binding it to the history of the two cities where it takes place and to contemporary creation. Eduarda Keating, President of the UMinho’s Cultural Council, believes this eighth edition shows the festival’s growth and maturity, with a diverse offer, various schedules, themes and partnerships, such as the association with the UMinho Students’ Union.
