Description
The Master Degree in Mathematics is a second cycle qualification under the Bologna Process recommendations.
The study program of this course is designed for students holding a first cycle in Mathematics, or in another equivalent area with high level of knowledge in basic mathematics, and pretending to develop a solid understanding in fundamental Mathematics. The study program is highly flexible, allowing a student to adopt his course of study to his own priorities. The course offers the opportunity to follow a curriculum program in pure Mathematics, possibly with specialization in Analysis, or Algebra, or Geometry and Topology. A more generalized study program covering two or three of these areas is also possible. Students can complete their program doing two course units selected from Fundamental Mathematics, Numerical Mathematics, Statistical Mathematics, Computer Science, or in other fields of knowledge, that satisfy their particular preferences and interests, or deficiencies.
Graduate students will develop competencies, with strong preparation in a specific area of interest in Mathematics, and will also develop the necessary skills and proficiency to advance their career. The Master in Mathematics provides an excellent background for a PhD and an academic career in fundamental mathematics.
