Description


The main objective of MEGO is to train professionals with advanced technical and scientific skills in the fields of Engineering and Operations Management, with an emphasis on particularly attractive and emerging domains, which are essential for the design, modelling, analysis and management of complex industrial and services of today. In particular it is intended:
(i) provide students with solid and specialized training in Engineering and Operations Management, which facilitates their integration into the labor market and enhances their professional career;
(ii) deepening skills in the autonomous conduct of basic and applied research in the fields of Engineering and Operations Management, guided by theoretical or practical problem-solving objectives;
(iii) to provide graduates with traditional training, particularly in Engineering areas, with a reconversion of skills that meets their professional needs.
(iv) create conditions for the development of R&D activities in the field of Engineering and Operations Management, taking into account the specificities of the knowledge domains that comprise it;
(v) prepare Master's students for a professional career in the private, public or social sectors;
(vi) contribute to the critical reflection of current and future social problems, using methodologies specific to Engineering and Operations Management;
(vii) promote the potential for innovation through advanced human capital training and the transfer of research results.

Key learning outcomes


This course aims to train professionals capable of:
1. apply advanced knowledge of Engineering and Operations Management to solve concrete problems in the business reality, in innovative, complex environments and in global competition;
2. elaborate analyzes and opinions with theoretical, methodological and empirical consistency;
3. understand the theoretical and empirical literature published by international reference publications in the field of Engineering and Operations Management;
4. transfer, use and create new knowledge in the field of Engineering and Operations Management.
5. communicate, in a clear way, the conclusions of the work developed, knowledge and rationality underlying them, to different audiences.
6. demonstrate personal skills in the domains of leadership, interpersonal communication and teamwork.

Access to higher education


The Master's Course in Engineering and Operations Management provides basic training for taking a 3rd Cycle course (Doctorate) in the same scientific area, or in other related areas.

By simultaneously ensuring training with depth, versatility and comprehensiveness, the course provides the skills and aptitudes needed for a world where flexibility, adaptability and the capacity for initiative are fundamental. Professional opportunities cover practically all productive sectors of the economy, with special emphasis on industry and services, and cover a wide range of functions, including entrepreneurial capacity. Other professional opportunities include functions of an institutional nature, both in the public sector and in the non-profit private sectors, as well as scientific research activities.

Entry requirements


Can apply to the Master Program holders of a degree or legal equivalent in the areas of Engineering, Management, Economics, Sciences and related areas. Exceptionally, in duly justified cases, the application of holders of other degrees (or foreign university degrees) may be admitted, provided that the respective curriculum demonstrates an adequate scientific preparation.
