Description


The master degree course in Biophysics of Bionanosystems aims at providing students a profound knowledge in physics of biological systems focusing on their molecular constituents, trying to developed the following skills:
-Development of new Bionanosystems for specific applications in Nanomedicin and Bionanomaterials
-Supplying a stimulating scientific environment in research projects of recognized quality, promoting the learning skills and the interchanging of ideas, as well as the entrepreneurship initiatives;
-Preparing the students for a research career in Biophysics, both in Portugal and abroad;
-Encouraging their integration in the job market associated to technological and based industries and in research institutes.

Access to higher education


This Master degree provides basic training to carry out a course of 3rd cycle (PhD) in the same scientific area, or other areas

Entry requirements


Conditions for admission to the master’s course:
a) holding a degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Medical / Biomedical Sciences / Life Sciences and Health, Veterinary Medicine, Biological Engineering / Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry , Environmental Sciences, or another degree with technical-scientific nature related to these areas;
b) holding a foreign Bachelor’s degree granted for the1st cycle of studies in the areas mentioned in a), organized in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Process, by a State which is party to this Process;
c) holding a foreign Bachelor’s Degree which is recognized by the Scientific Council of the School of Sciences as satisfying the objectives of the Bachelor’s Degree in the areas mentioned in a);
d) those with an academic, scientific or professional curriculum which is recognized by the Scientific Council of the School of Sciences as demonstrating the capacity to carry out this cycle of studies.
