Staff mobility is one of the activities foreseen under the Erasmus+ Programme and aims at allowing teaching/training periods in partner universities in other countries.
The teaching/training assignments must have a minimum duration of two days for teaching staff, where they must ensure a minimum teaching period of eight hours, and five days for non-teaching staff. These missions may involve other activities, such as accompanying Erasmus students, the development of new cooperation or research projects.
What procedures should be carried out before mobility?
- Contact the Internationalisation Support Services Unit to check if there is an agreement with the intended University and if teaching and non-teaching staff mobility is envisaged;
- Send the Mobility Agreement signed by the staff member (whenever possible digitally) and by the representative of the host institution to USAI (usai@usai.uminho.pt), together with the Citizen Card, in digital format, at least 1 month before the mobility activity. Proposals for mobility must be accompanied by a favourable opinion from the Chair of the UOEI/Service Department;
- Indication of an Emergency Contact (name, parental/personal relationship, telephone and email);
- Indication of the identification number;
- Signing of a Mobility Contract with UMinho, as stipulated by the funding entity. This contract will be drawn up by USAI and must be signed before departure.
N.B. The mobility will only be made official, as well as the grant amount communicated, after the presentation of a Mobility Agreement.
What are the procedures after mobility?
As required by the Programme, the following must be sent to USAI (usai@usai.uminho.pt) no later than 15 days after the end of the visit:
- a statement from the host institution certifying the mobility period;
- proof of travel (flight tickets, boarding passes, train tickets, bus tickets, toll receipts and other relevant supporting documents);
- Submission of an online report, sent directly by email by the European Commission.
Funding
Community financial support will only cover a percentage of all visits proposed and will be limited to covering part of the costs associated with undertaking an education/training mission abroad.
The value of the mobility grant takes as reference the table of mobility grants prepared annually by the Erasmus+ National Agency and varies according to the destination country and the duration of the stay, and essentially covers travel and a part of the subsistence.
Is it only possible to carry out mobility for teaching and non-teaching staff within the framework of Interinstitutional Agreements?
No, UMinho coordinates projects (International Credit Mobility) and is a partner in other projects (Erasmus Mundus) that include the possibility of staff mobility. However, given the particularities of these mobilities, the rules are disseminated through other channels.
