The development of a policy designed for the safeguarding of ethical principles is a strategic objective of UMinho. As part of this, the
Code of Ethical Conduct of the University of Minho is an ethical guideline for education, research, interaction with society and general functioning, addressed to the entire academic community, including teachers, researchers, technical, administrative or managerial employees, as well as students from the different study cycles and further programmes or training courses.
This document is organised into four chapters. The first chapter pertains to institutional ethical conduct and applies to the whole academic community. The other three chapters deal with pedagogic and scientific research aspects; thus, chapter II is devoted to academic conduct, chapter III to general conduct in scientific research activities and chapter IV specifically to conduct in research involving human beings or animals.
