Unit in partnership with the Municipality of Braga, endowed with administrative and financial autonomy, which is governed by its respective statutes, with the aim of providing information, training and enhancing the bibliographical and documental patrimony. The Library is part of the National Public Reading Network and it is possible to consult works published in Portugal since 1975.
Casa de Sarmento
Centre for Heritage Studies
The Casa de Sarmento is a Differentiated Unit of the University of Minho, founded in 2017, supported by a protocol that the University signed with the Municipality of Guimarães and the Sociedade Martins Sarmento (SMS). The experience of the Cultural Unit with the same name, which existed between 2002 and 2008, has thus been resumed.
Its main mission is to strengthen the link between the University and the community, as well as to support the implementation of the scientific and cultural mission of SMS. Of particular importance in its activity is the handling, cataloguing, digitalisation and dissemination of the bibliographical, documental and museological collection of the SMS. Through the Casa de Sarmento, researchers and the general public will have special access to a heritage of inestimable cultural value with considerable scientific potential.
Confucius Institute
Unit in partnership with Hanban (National Office for Spreading the Chinese Language in the World) and Nankai University, Tianjin, and endowed with administrative and financial autonomy, which is governed by its respective statutes, having as its main objective the development and deepening of Chinese studies.
