As a crest, the coat of arms has a winged serpent. In the upper part of the shield, there is an open book from alpha to omega and, in the bottom part, hyacinths in fields of silver.
The insignias of the University are grounded on the symbolic values of these three pieces. The serpent represents wisdom; the book represents knowledge and the hyacinths represent scientific humility
