Teaching and Non-teaching Staff

docentes.jpg

Mobility of teaching and non-teaching staff is one of the core activities of inter-university cooperation, which aims to contribute to promoting the European dimension and quality of higher education, especially among non-mobile students. Through the visits made by teachers and non-teaching staff in this context, these students are given the opportunity to benefit from the new knowledge and skills of the guests.

This type of mobility should be foreseen in the Interinstitutional Agreements established between UMinho and European partner universities, under the Erasmus Programme.

Where should the application for IN teaching and non-teaching staff be sent?

The application may be sent to the Internationalisation Support Services Unit, which will arrange for it to be forwarded for analysis by the Chair of the UOEI or Directorate of the Service that will receive the employee, or directly to the contact person of the UOEI/Services.

What are the minimum requirements for accepting an IN employee?

According to the Erasmus+ Programme, teaching/training assignments must have a minimum duration of two days for teaching staff, where they must ensure a minimum teaching period of eight hours, and five days for non-teaching staff.

What documents are necessary to formalise the arrival of an IN employee?

The formalisation of the visit is made through signing the Mobility Agreement, which must be signed by the employee, the home institution and UMinho.

Sometimes a request is made to send a letter of invitation, which, although not compulsory, can be undertaken directly by the UOEI/Hosting Service at UMinho.

Who should sign the official documents of the IN employee?

Ideally, the documents should be signed by the USAI, as a means of keeping control of the employees who are visiting UMinho.

If for some reason there is no possibility for the documents to be signed centrally, the UOEI/Services should send scanned copies of the signed documents to the USAI.

Does UMinho only receive teaching and non-teaching staff as part of Interinstitutional Agreements?

No, UMinho coordinates projects (International Credit Mobility) and is a partner in other projects (Erasmus Mundus) that include the possibility of staff mobility. However, given the particularities of these mobilities, the rules are disseminated through other channels.
