Open Science Observatory

Tosuminho_v3.pnghe Open Science Observatory of University of Minho is a transversal support structure for the scientific system of the University of Minho. Its mission is to promote, support and monitor open science practices, ensuring institutional alignment with national and international standards.

It was established by the Rector decree RT-86/2026, on May 19th, within the framework of the implementation and consolidation of the University's Open Science Policy.


Its activities contribute to strengthening the quality, transparency, reproducibility and societal impact of research carried out at the University.

Main functions

The Observatory is responsible for:

  • Monitoring the implementation of the UMinho Open Science Policy;
  • Collecting and analysing information on the evolution of open science at national and international levels;
  • Identifying open science indicators and FAIRness of research data, proposing institutional targets;
  • Promoting the adoption of open science practices through awareness and training activities;
  • Producing annual reports and recommendations to improve institutional practices.

Composition

The Open Science Observatory of the University of Minho is composed of the following members:
