Luis Amaral was Born in Mora in 1960.

Associate Professor at the School of Engineering since 1998.

Graduated in Systems Engineering and Informatics at the University of Minho in 1994; obtained his Pedagogical Aptitude and Scientific Capacity Certification (PAPCC) at the University of Minho in 1988, and a PhD in Informatics (Information Systems) by the University of Minho in 1995. He joined the University of Minho, as a monitor, in 1982, and became a Trainee Assistant in the field of Computer Science and the control of ​​the Scientific and Pedagogical Engineering Unit in 1984. He developed his teaching activity in the areas of Information Systems Planning and Management and Information Society. His primary research interests are Information Systems in social and organizational contexts, in particular in the field of public administration. In this context, he published 400 studies (22 books; 20 book chapters; 30 journal articles; 226 conference papers; 102 technical reports).
