 Monitoring Committee of the Internal Quality Assurance System (CA-SIGAQ)

​The CA-SIGAQ undertakes close management between SIGAQ-UM and the bodies and structures of UMinho providing a facilitated management of quality assurance processes and acting as a catalyser for the active participation of the stakeholders involved, while ensuring appropriate support for strategic planning at the various levels of responsibility. Thus, it is up to the members of the CA-SIGAQ to:
(1) disseminate quality institutional policy;
(2) explain the role of SIGAQ-UM instruments and mechanisms as regards quality assurance;
(3) mediate communication between the community to which they belong and the coordination structures of SIGAQ-UM;
(4) lead continuous quality improvement initiatives within its units and jurisdictions

The monthly meetings of the CA-SIGAQ may be held in plenary, or in specialised sub-committees:
(1) subcommittee on education;
(2) subcommittee on research;
(3) subcommittee on services.

The CA-SIGAQ is chaired by the Vice Rector with the responsibility of Quality department and should be attended by the following stakeholders:
(1) the Vice Rector with the responsibility of Quality, who chairs;
(2) the senior manager of the Service Unit of Quality Management and Accreditation, who is the secretary;
(3) a representative of the Service Unit of Information Systems and Communications (USSIC), appointed by its senior manager;
(4) a representative of each of the UOs who, depending on the agenda of the meeting, should be either the member of the Presidency of the UO with the corresponding department of the subject under discussion (Teaching or Research) or the Secretary of the UO at meetings that deal with services;
(5) a representative of the Cultural Units designated by the Cultural Council;
(6) the UMinho Administrator;
(7) the SASUM Administrator;
(8) the senior manager of each of the Service Units, in the meetings about the services;
(9) a student representative, appointed by the President of the Academic Association of University of Minho (AAUM);
(10) three student representatives, appointed by (and among) the student representatives in the Academic Senate, and representatives of the cycles of studies leading to the undergraduate, master and PhD degrees;
(11) a representative of teachers, appointed by (and among) the representatives of teachers in the Academic Senate;
(12) a representative of the PhD researchers appointed by (and among) the representatives of the PhD researchers in the Academic Senate, at meetings about research or services;
(13) a representative of the TAG staff, designated by (and among the) representatives of the TAG staff in the Academic Senate, in meetings dealing with services;
(14) a person of recognized merit, with relevant knowledge and experience in the fields of assessment and quality assurance in IES, designated by the Rector, for the annual meeting on the continuous improvement of SIGAQ-UM itself. For each meeting, the president of CA-SIGAQ may invite other actors that he deems relevant for the proper conduct of activities..
